Tokenized Equities Triple Market Share as Ondo, Binance and xStocks Lead the Race
Tokenized stock market share has surged to 15%. That marks a threefold increase from the start of the year. The total market cap now sits near $2.8 billion.
This growth stands out among real-world asset (RWA) categories. Interest in on-chain equity trading has risen sharply. Tokenized equities have become a key entry point for retail investors into on-chain applications.
Strong Growth in RWA Transfer Volume

RWA transfer volume jumped in August. It doubled to $20 billion from $9 billion the previous month. Tokenized equities still form a relatively small share of the overall RWA market. Yet they attract the most attention from everyday investors.
Three Major Players Dominate Tokenized Stocks
Three platforms now control most of the market. Ondo Finance, Binance’s bStock, and xStocks together hold 77% of the total.
- Ondo leads with a market cap of $957 million.
- Binance’s bStock holds $622 million.
- xStocks follows closely at $600 million.
Synthetic Stocks vs. On-Chain Equity
All three platforms use synthetic representations of underlying stocks. These products aim to track the real stock’s performance. Investors receive a derivative they can trade freely on-chain.
Other projects take a different path. Securitize and Superstate work on bringing actual equity on-chain. In that model, blockchain-issued shares carry the same rights as traditional shares.
First-to-Distribute or Native Tokenization?
Tokenized equity firms face a clear choice. Some focus on speed and distribution with synthetic products. Others prioritize true on-chain ownership with full shareholder rights.
Synthetic stocks trade more actively today. However, they do not offer full ownership, governance rights, or the same investor protections as real shares.
This overview comes from The Block’s Data & Insights newsletter. It highlights the numbers behind one of the strongest trends in the RWA sector.
