Tether and Gnosis have co-led a $4.4 million seed funding round for Sorted Wallet. The investment also included support from Movement, Angel Invest Group, and several angel investors.
Sorted Wallet is a lightweight non-custodial crypto wallet designed for mobile users in developing regions. The app size is only 10MB, making it suitable for low-cost smartphones and feature phones with limited storage and internet access.
Since launching in 2022, Sorted Wallet has reached over 500,000 downloads. The platform is growing quickly in countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Bangladesh, and Madagascar. It has also expanded into Central American markets, including Mexico.
The company plans to use the new funding to expand across Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Sorted Wallet also aims to improve partnerships with mobile network operators and launch a new payment solution later this month.
