Convicted OneCoin money launderer Mark Scott has officially been disbarred in Florida.

The Florida Supreme Court approved his disbarment on April 3, 2026, ending a long legal battle. Scott, aged 57, was a member of the Florida Bar since 1998 and the New York Bar since 1996.

Background of the Case

Scott was convicted of money laundering and bank fraud in November 2019 for his role in the massive OneCoin cryptocurrency scam.

Both Florida and New York moved to disbar him after the conviction. New York disbarred him in October 2020. Florida proceedings were delayed as Scott filed multiple appeals.

Timeline of Appeals and Delays

  • December 2021: Motion for a new trial denied

  • Later: Appeal against the denial rejected

  • October 6, 2025: U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear his case

The stay on Florida disbarment was lifted on November 6, 2025.

Scott’s Petition and Florida Bar Response

Instead of fighting further, Scott filed a petition on January 21, 2026, requesting “disciplinary revocation” with the right to apply for readmission later.

He also offered to pay $1,250 in legal costs to the Florida Bar and cover claims to the Client Security Fund.

The Florida Bar supported the petition. The Florida Supreme Court granted it on April 3, 2026, since it was uncontested. Scott can apply for readmission after five years.

Prison Sentence Still Pending

Scott was sentenced to ten years in prison in January 2024 but has delayed his surrender for over two years.

On May 5, 2026, he requested a final adjournment from May 15 to June 1. The court granted it on May 12. It remains unclear whether he will surrender on June 1 or seek further delays.

This disbarment marks another major consequence for Scott following his central role in the OneCoin fraud.
