Digital Asset, the company behind the Canton Network blockchain, has secured an additional $10 million in funding from Shinhan Financial Group and SC Ventures, the investment arm of Standard Chartered.
The latest investment increases the company’s recently announced funding round from $355 million to $365 million. According to sources familiar with the deal, the investment was completed at the same $2 billion equity valuation as the previous round.
Digital Asset’s original funding round was announced last month and was led by a16z crypto, the cryptocurrency investment division of Andreessen Horowitz.
The round also attracted several leading financial institutions from both traditional finance and the digital asset industry. Investors included ABN Amro, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Apollo Funds, BNP Paribas, Citadel Securities, CME Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Hanwha Investment & Securities, HSBC, S&P Global, and SBI Group.
The addition of Shinhan Financial Group and SC Ventures further strengthens Digital Asset’s global investor network.
Digital Asset Co-Founder and CEO Yuval Rooz said the new investors bring valuable international expertise and stronger connections across global financial markets.
He noted that the investment highlights the growing demand for blockchain infrastructure that enables regulated financial institutions to operate on shared digital networks without sacrificing privacy, compliance, or operational control.
Digital Asset developed the Canton Network, a public Layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for regulated financial institutions.
The platform enables banks, asset managers, and financial service providers to move assets, applications, and financial processes onto blockchain infrastructure while meeting strict regulatory and privacy requirements.
This approach aims to help institutions adopt blockchain technology without compromising security or compliance standards.
Seonghun Hong, Investment Manager at Shinhan Financial Group, said Digital Asset has built infrastructure that meets the operational and regulatory needs of global financial institutions.
He added that institutional demand for digital assets continues to grow across Asia, creating significant opportunities to develop trusted blockchain-based financial infrastructure in South Korea and other regional markets.
Following the funding announcement, the Canton Network’s native CC token traded at approximately $0.13, posting a gain of around 2% over the previous 24 hours. The token’s market capitalization stood at nearly $5 billion, reflecting continued investor interest in the Canton ecosystem.
The latest investment demonstrates growing confidence in Digital Asset’s long-term vision as financial institutions increasingly explore blockchain technology for regulated financial services.
