On April 14, 2026, X (formerly Twitter) launched Cashtags, a new feature that lets users view live price charts and related posts for stocks and cryptocurrencies directly in their timelines.
Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, announced the rollout via a thread on Tuesday. The feature is currently available only for iPhone users in the U.S. and Canada.
Bier described Cashtags as “just the first step” in making X the best destination for the finance and crypto community, ensuring users are “always matched to the chatter for the right stock or token.”
The launch follows Bier’s recent comment that crypto has had a “rough year,” hinting that new tools could help improve the experience. X has emphasized it will not act as a brokerage or execute trades itself. Instead, the focus is on building better financial data tools and convenient links.
This move aligns with Elon Musk’s vision to turn X into an “everything app.” Last month, Musk said early public access to X Money — a digital wallet for peer-to-peer transfers and payments — is planned for April. X has also hired talent with crypto experience, including a former design lead from Aave and Base.
Cashtags is rolling out gradually and is not yet available outside the U.S. and Canada. No timeline has been shared for broader international expansion.
