Pro-crypto Maryland state delegate Adrian Boafo has won the Democratic primary election, marking a major victory for cryptocurrency-focused political groups.

Boafo received strong support from Protect Progress, a crypto-backed super PAC linked to Fairshake, which played a key role in supporting his campaign.

Protect Progress Invests Millions in Boafo Campaign

According to Federal Election Commission filings, Protect Progress spent around $5.5 million on the race, with much of the funding benefiting Boafo.

Outside groups reportedly spent nearly $8.8 million supporting Boafo’s campaign as of June 3.

The spending included $1.9 million from Protect Progress and $1.5 million from the United Democracy Project, a super PAC connected to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Adrian Boafo Gains Support From Crypto and Tech Groups

Boafo’s background as a former federal lobbyist for Oracle helped attract attention from technology and cryptocurrency-focused political organizations.

Oracle provides cloud infrastructure services used by various crypto exchanges and decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms.

Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter said the group’s early investment helped move Boafo from a lower position in the race toward a potential seat in Congress.

Crypto PACs Increase Political Influence

Boafo’s victory highlights the growing influence of crypto-focused political action committees in U.S. elections.

Other crypto-friendly candidates have also gained support from digital asset-focused PACs during the 2026 election cycle.

In New York, crypto-friendly incumbent Representative Dan Goldman lost the Democratic primary to Brad Lander.

Goldman had previously supported major crypto-related legislation, including the GENIUS Act and the Clarity Act, after the House passed both bills.

Crypto-Backed Candidates See More Wins

Last month, pro-crypto candidate Christian Menefee defeated Representative Al Green in a Texas Democratic primary runoff after receiving support from crypto super PACs.

The trend shows increasing involvement from cryptocurrency organizations in shaping political races across the United States.

Fairshake and Crypto PAC Fundraising Growth

Data from The Block’s dashboard shows that Fairshake and other crypto-focused PACs have raised approximately $188.9 million during the 2026 election cycle so far.

This compares with $359.4 million raised throughout the entire 2024 election cycle, showing continued political investment from the crypto industry.

Adrian Boafo’s primary win represents another step forward for pro-crypto candidates seeking greater influence in U.S. policy and government.
