On April 14, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) officially began the victim restitution process for victims of the OneCoin Ponzi scheme. A dedicated website has been established through Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, allowing victims to file a Petition for Remission either online or by mail.

Victims can also request a paper petition form by phone, email, or letter. The deadline to submit a completed petition is June 30, 2026.

How to File a OneCoin Restitution Claim

To participate:

  • Complete and sign the Petition for Remission (online or paper format)
  • Submit it along with supporting documentation (proof of investment, transaction records, etc.)
  • Submit via the online form, email, or mail as instructed on the official DOJ OneCoin restitution website

The DOJ strongly warns victims to file directly and avoid anyone offering “help” to submit claims, as such offers are frequently new scams targeting OneCoin victims.

Background of the OneCoin Ponzi Scheme

OneCoin, founded by Ruja Ignatova, defrauded investors of approximately $4 billion worldwide between 2014 and 2017. It was marketed as a revolutionary cryptocurrency but operated as a classic MLM Ponzi scheme. Ignatova disappeared in 2017 and remains a fugitive wanted by the FBI.

Restitution funds will come from forfeited assets seized in related criminal cases in the Southern District of New York. Once a final forfeiture order is issued by the court, net proceeds will be distributed to approved victims. There is currently no fixed timeline for when payments will be made after petitions are processed.

Important Advice for Victims

  • File your petition yourself using the official DOJ/Kroll website or contact details.
  • Do not pay anyone who offers to file on your behalf.
  • Keep all supporting documents (bank statements, transaction confirmations, emails, etc.).
  • The process is free.

This restitution initiative provides a formal pathway for OneCoin victims to seek compensation from seized criminal proceeds.
