DAO1 & Apertum Scammers Impersonate BehindMLM Review Site

The domain behindmlmreviews.com, originally launched in late 2024 as a clone of BehindMLM, has been hijacked to publish promotional spam for DAO1 and Apertum since January 15, 2026.

After sitting dormant for months (with intermittent downtime), the site suddenly began republishing marketing press releases and articles glorifying the schemes and their promoters.

Promoters Featured in the Fake “Reviews”

The six new articles highlight the following individuals tied to DAO1 and Apertum recruitment:

  • Holly Hayes (Australia)
  • Kelly Nichols (Australia)
  • Amanda Flavell (Australia)
  • Sarah Percy (Australia)
  • Jessica Klinger aka J9 (Germany/Dubai)
  • Andrew Hawkes, aka DocDrew (Australia)
  • Tony Pipes (New Zealand)
  • Neil Morrison (New Zealand)

These names have repeatedly appeared in DAO1 marketing materials across Telegram, YouTube, and other platforms.

Multiple Jurisdictions Have Issued DAO1 & Apertum Fraud Warnings

Regulatory authorities in several countries have already flagged DAO1 and Apertum (APTM) as fraudulent investment schemes:

  • New Zealand – Financial Markets Authority (FMA) securities fraud warning – January 2025
  • Australia – Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) securities fraud warning – February 2025
  • Germany – BaFin securities fraud warning covering DAO1 and Apertum – October 2025
  • Latvia and Lithuania – additional fraud alerts issued over the past year

Josip Heit (Dubai-based, believed to hold a German passport) is the central figure behind DAO1 and its token Apertum. He is a convicted fraudster from Croatia, subject to an active money laundering investigation there, and settled GSPartners fraud claims with multiple U.S. state regulators in late 2024 (settlement still ongoing as of January 2026).

BehindMLM Impersonation Is Not New

This is not the first time scammers have cloned BehindMLM to deceive consumers:

  • In 2021, Ash Mufareh (OnPassive) created counterfeit BehindMLM clones and posted fake positive reviews to counter negative coverage.
  • The SEC cited this impersonation tactic in its 2023 OnPassive lawsuit against Mufareh.
  • Mufareh ultimately settled fraud charges with the SEC for $32 million in 2025.

Technical Footprint of BehindMLMReviews

DNS and WHOIS records link behindmlmreviews.com to Dmitrijs Babovskis (also known as Dmitry Babovsky), a Latvian resident connected to First Cloud SIA, the parent company of hosting provider FirstHost.

Both FirstHost (hosting) and Ascio (domain registrar) were notified of the violation of their terms of service, but did not respond or take action.

Current Status & Red Flags Summary

  • BehindMLMReviews.com is actively publishing DAO1 and Apertum promotional content.
  • The site charges $500 for fake reviews (a business model it attempted before going dormant).
  • DAO1 and Apertum continue to be promoted heavily in Germany, the Dominican Republic, the UK, South Africa, and select other markets.
  • Josip Heit remains at large, primarily operating from Dubai.

Red flags for consumers:

  • Any website claiming to be “BehindMLMReviews” is not affiliated with BehindMLM.
  • Genuine BehindMLM content appears only on behindmlm.com.
  • All DAO1 and Apertum promotions should be treated as high-risk fraud until proven otherwise.
