A Stand With Crypto study found that the group’s supporters in New Jersey might be able to decide who becomes governor in November, which is about eight months away.
The group Stand With Crypto, which supports digital assets, has shared data that suggests the crypto policy views of candidates in the 2025 New Jersey governor race could decide the winner.
Stand With Crypto said in a March 6 notice that about 62,000 people had joined with the group in New Jersey. This suggests that crypto-minded voters could have an impact on the state’s governor race in November. More than 40% of qualified voters showed up for the last election in 2021, and Democrat Phil Murphy beat Republican Jack Ciattarelli by about 84,000 votes.
According to the advocacy group’s February survey of 400 of its members in New Jersey, 63% of them said they would be more inclined to support a pro-crypto candidate in the state’s governor race. According to the research, 17% of respondents said they would not support a candidate for governor who opposed crypto laws.
According to John Anzalone, a partner at Impact Research, which conducted the survey, “Crypto played a major role in the 2024 general election, and with nearly two-thirds of crypto-aligned voters indicating a preference for pro-crypto candidates, it’s primed to be a key factor in 2025 races as well.”
The political action committee (PAC) Fairshake, which was mostly financed by Coinbase and Ripple, spent around $131 million in the 2024 election cycle to promote candidates in the general election and primaries, several of whom went on to win seats. The PAC has indicated that it plans to continue using cryptocurrency to influence US elections by continuing to solicit money for the 2026 midterm elections.
More than $700,000 has already been spent by Defend American Jobs, a Fairshake affiliate, to back two Republican candidates seeking seats in the Florida House of Representatives in the 2025 special elections. Following the November 2024 elections, which saw Donald Trump win the president and Republican legislators secure a majority in the US Senate and House, the April 1 elections will be among the first to take place.

Governor Murphy of New Jersey is unable to run again after serving two terms in a row. The candidates for the general election, which may include Republican Ciattarelli and Democratic Representative Josh Gottheimer, will be decided in the June primary. It’s uncertain who in either party will be the front-runner with around eight months before the 2025 election.
“Nearly half of Stand With Crypto members identify as Independents and are persuadable in the race for governor, despite their Republican-leaning DNA,” the organisation said. In the governor contest, “nearly half of members (45%) are persuadable – either undecided or say they could change their vote between a generic Democrat and Republican,” the group said.
